Duhallow IRD Survey " Your Community, Your Voice " As part of a survey for the Duhallow IRD Smart Villages Programme, the people of Kanturk are being asked to take part in a survey & Questionaire which has been circulated locally. As someone who lives in the area, you are invited to take part in a questionnaire that will ask you questions about, How you perceive locality Whats good & not so good Your work or study Your quality of life & well being Your sense of place Local amenities & facilities The findings will help local community groups to formulate their plans for their community & will feed into the strategy for the region. At a recent public meeting at Scoil Mhuire Kanturk, plans were unveiled to develop an equine therapy centre in Meelaherragh, Kanturk. This will be established by St Joseph’s Foundation in Charleville and modelled on the hugely successful centre at Liskennet Co.Limerick. Speakers on that evening included David Doyle of St Joseph’s Foundation, Michael Moynihan TD, and Kate Jarvey. Funding of 2.7 million euro has been granted by government to set up the centre and the site was very kindly donated by local philanthropist Kate Jarvey. This exciting, and hugely important project will offer respite, residential and equine therapies to children with A S D and other intellectual disorders in Duhallow and surrounding areas. St Joseph’s Foundation is also establishing two residential houses for adults with disabilities in Newmarket and these should be opened in 2023.
